         Reservations can be made over the phone by calling  203-775-4404, by email at martasvineyard@aol.com, or by completing our resort form.  We recommend that you make them one month in advance during the summer months, school vacations and major holidays.  Resort rates do increase during these times and a nonrefundable, nontransferable deposit is required.     

         When you make a reservation you will be asked to state if your pet(s) has a medical condition, significant or insignificant.   Marta's reserves the right to refuse boarding for significant health conditions.  For obvious reasons, we do not admit pets with specific health issues.  Some of these include diabetes, heart conditions, liver conditions, kidney conditions, mange, intestinal parasites, and seizures.  In consideration of a pet's age, we do not board dogs that are new to us if they are 15 years and older.  Pets having dentistry, elective or major surgeries can board after 2 weeks from the procedure.  However, if  your pet does have a medical condition or is 15 years and older, and you are a Valley Veterinary Hospital or Squibnocket Animal Center client, let us know and we will be happy to accommodate your pet at one of these two hospitals.  Intestinal parasite and mange patients can board at either hospital or at Marta's after treatment is completed. 

         To make a reservation we require a major credit card to hold your pet's room.  During off season you have 24 hours prior to the date of reservation to cancel.  If you cancel less than 24 hours you will be charged a one night fee on your credit card for each room you book.  During high season (summer months, school vacations and major holidays) we require a nonrefundable, nontransferable deposit.  You will receive an  email confirmation of the dates reserved and the room booked for your pet.  The email will also list any vaccines that need to be updated.        

Check In                             

When you bring your pet to Marta's Vineyard Canine Resort, we will provide the linens, dishes, and bedtime treats.  You'll need to bring your pets food for the amount of days while at the resort.  All foods are prepared by our certified nutritionist through Hills Science Diet (www.hillspet.com).   Only medication, in a prescription bottle, is accepted.  Rawhide treats and greenies are not permitted for your pet's safety.  If  you would like to bring your pet's bed or blanket your are more than welcome.  We ask that it be a reasonable size and not too large.  You are welcome to bring a few of your pet's favorite toys to play with while at Marta's.  

When you arrive you will be signing a contract.  We will confirm pick up time and date, room accommodation, rate, any extra services you would like for your pet, medications if any, feeding amount and schedule as well as any health or behavioral issues you want us to be aware of while your pet is in our care.  Please make sure you provide a contact number to reach you in case of an emergency. 

Let us know if someone else will bring your pet and we will arrange to have the contract reviewed and signed by your prior to arrival date.  Also,  let us know if someone other than you will be picking up your pet.  We will need that person's name and telephone number in advance for the release of your pet.  Payment must be made in advance if your are having someone check your pet out of Marta's.

Check Out                        

 Check out time is by 12 noon.  If your pet up before 12 noon you will not be charged for the day.  If you pick your pet up between 1 and 6pm you will be charged for the day.  To avoid an additional 1 day fee at pick up time, we require a 24 hour notice for early pick up.  Please let us know if you are having someone other than you pick up your pet.  We will be asking that person for their full name and phone number.  Payment arrangements will need to be made at check in time or over the phone prior to someone else picking up your pet.  

 If your pet is being picked up before 12 noon we will not feed your pet.  This reduces the chance of an upset stomach your pet may get from the excitement of seeing you at pick up time, of motion sickness from being in the car, from readjusting to home life, and prevents any gastrointestinal conditions.  

 When you pick up your pet we will take care of payment and provide you with your pet's luggage as well as any medications and food.  Your pet's vacation will also be reviewed. We will then go to your pet's room and complete one final physical check for release.  And finally, the moment you've been  waiting for, a reunion with your beloved family member!
